Identifying the PIV Cert on a Mac

In Safari
- To identify the PIV cert select the non-email certificate and scroll down to verify the NT Principal Name
- The PIV cert will have an NT Principal Name that is a 16 digit number followed by @ mil.
In Google Chrome
- Click the 3 vertical dots at the upper right and navigate to Settings > Security > Manage Certificates
- Under the Personal tab select a certificate that has DOD ID in the Issued By column and then click View.
- Under the Details tab scroll to the bottom of the list to find Key Usage. The PIV certificate has a Key Usage of Digital Signature (80) only, it will not say Non-Repudiation.
- At the top of the Details tab look for the Serial number of your PIV cert, for most users this will be an easy way to identify the certificate.
