Senior Executive Positions

Executive Resources at NGA include members of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service (DISES) and Defense Intelligence Senior Level (DISL) employees.

NGA DISES positions are managerial positions, allocated to NGA by the Department of Defense, which are classified above the Band 5/GS-15 level. DISES positions are characterized by emphasis on organization or program management responsibilities. DISES positions are the DOD Intelligence Community equivalent to SES positions.

NGA DISL positions are technical or scientific positions, allocated to NGA by DOD, which are classified above the Band 5/GS-15 levels. DISL positions are characterized by emphasis on functional expertise and have no more than minimal supervisory responsibilities (less than 25 percent). DISL's are recognized leaders and authorities in a specialized field or functional area. DISL positions are the DOD Intelligence Community equivalent to SL positions.

Senior Maritime National GEOINT Officer - IP6813

The Senior GEOINT Authority, Maritime, a DISL position, serves as the NGA/DoD Hydrographer and Senior representative for all issues concerning maritime Safety of Navigation, and represents the NGA Director in the maritime Functional Management role. They are the principal representative for analytical and technical issues related to NGA maritime safety of navigation GEOINT initiatives and coordinate, integrate and orchestrate operations within the maritime data domain. The individual must understand the safety of navigation information provider/mariner relationship and promote effective maritime information and data user relations.

This position has routine and repeated contact with senior intelligence, defense and national security officials and collaborates with senior level counterparts across NGA, the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, international partners, industry, academia and other stakeholders across the maritime data domain. These include the International Hydrographic Organization, International Maritime Organization, National System for Geospatial Intelligence, Allied System of Geospatial Intelligence and others. This position must fully understand and articulate national security mission directions, user needs, technical state of the art capabilities and current research directions. This position is expected to speak publicly on NGA maritime geospatial and science activities, and US Inter-agency efforts to improve the means of navigation.
